I am delighted to welcome you to my website. My name is Ernest Artal and I am a senior music teacher in several specialities. I currently devote myself fully to vocal and orchestral composition, and I have a repertoire of approximately 90 works of my own creation, having composed music for ensembles of all kinds.

This suite is a tribute to Carmen, beloved companion and wife, the starting point of an emotional journey that takes love as its leitmotif. From there, some pieces are also dedicated to dearly loved people who are no longer among us, giving rise to twelve vignettes that depict different images and states of mind: love, absence, and remembrance. Musically, it combines a Romantic tonal language with occasional Impressionist touches. It is a personal tribute, an ode to life through affection and spirituality.
We present Carmen performed by the eminent pianist and concert artist Claudio Carbó. While Artal’s repertoire stands out for its formal rigour and compositional complexity, bringing it to life requires a performer with impeccable technique, and Claudio Carbó has the ability to bring expressiveness and nuance to this latest work.
We invite you to discover and listen to this album, narrative and emotive in character, built through highly melodic and grateful piano writing, with a wide range of technical difficulty between movements (from the simplicity of the Shepherdess’s Dance to the virtuosity of Invisible or the formal scope of the Rondo). It is a work conceived both for the concert stage and, perhaps, for intermediate-to-advanced piano study, with notable editorial care from PILES and y Artal & Ferrandis.
